“All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hola!

I'm stoked to be writing you guys today!! This week was good! It had a new set of challenges to tackle, and it had some spots where I was really happy, and other spots where I was exhausted, and all sorts of stuff! Haha But that's the life we live as missionaries!

We've been working with Rodrigo! He is the husband of Berenice, the lady who was baptized a couple weeks ago. We've been working really hard with him and there have been many struggles we've had to help him get over these past 6 weeks, and we are still helping him, but he is progressing, and we've built a really good relationship with him! I love the guy! We're going to try to set a date to get baptized in 2 or 3 weeks!

This week, I've been thinking a lot about trust. Not only trust between us as humans, and friends and family, but trust in God. Thinking logically about it, once we understand our relationship with God, that He is our father and that He loves us, And cries when we cry, and rejoices when we rejoice. That understanding should calm all fears, all doubts, all worries and anxiety. Often, we don't let it.

The other night, there was something that was bothering me really bad, something that happened with someone that I've been working with here. And I was in bed, and I couldn't sleep, I couldn't stop feeling grieved for this person and the situation that they are going through. It was literally just eating away at me. And I heard a voice tell me to get out of bed. So I got out of bed. (Which isn't an easy task because I'm on the top bunk) and I just stood there for a little bit, kind of confused why I got out of bed, and then I heard it again, telling me to go to my study desk, So I went to my study desk. And I was just in shock about how real this voice was to me. I felt like I could literally hear it , and I sat down in my desk and I just kind of sat there for a second and I looked down and on my desk there was a talk by President Eyring. I don't know how it got there, but I didn't care, at this point, I was kind of sure I was supposed to read it, so I read it and it was exactly what I needed. It talked about waiting for blessings. They come, and we should happily wait for them. It talked about how the spirit can speak peace to our souls when we're going through trails or feel grief. And It was exactly what I needed. It was one of the strangest experiences I've had on my missions, and one of the most spiritual. I know that The Lord loves us. He is watching over us, and He is watching over the people we love. I'm so grateful to be able to tell people That God loves them, and to testify of the restored gospel. I've come to love it. I love being a missionary.

I hope you all have a great week this week!

Another Great Week in So Cal!

Hola!

Happy Father's day Dad! I hope you had a good one! This week was great! We confirmed Berenice, Zane, and Stephanie yesterday in Sacrament Meeting, and it was really good! I'm convinced missionary work is the hardest kind of work there is, its hard to find people to teach, its hard to teach people, its hard to watch people make the wrong choices and use their agency wrong, but on the other hand, its the most rewarding work that has ever done. There is no words to describe the joy that we feel as missionaries, besides the scriptures term "The fullness of Joy".
This week has been kind of slower with teaching. We had lots of meetings and what not. But we have two investigators, Juan y Juana Menchaca. They are both about 70 years old, and they are great. Their son and daughter in law are members in our ward. We met them just on a visit to the house, and we assumed they were members because they knew so much about the church, but at the end, we asked them if they were members, and they told us no, so we asked if there was a day that we could pass by, and they said Of Course! So we passed by, and we were teaching them the Lesson about the Restoration, and we were talking about Prophets, and I asked them If they knew of any prophets, and they started naming off people like Moses and Noah, and Abraham, and then they said, Oh and Jose Smith! Haha and me and my comps looked at each other, and we were like, You're exactly right. Jose Smith was a prophet, and we just went on teaching, but that was just an example of how much they already believe in the church and have a testimony about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, (Which Juana has read all the way through!) So, that's great! They said yes to being baptized, but we have to wait because Juana just got a knee surgery, and she cant get in the water.. But that's okay. The Lord directs his work and He knows when she'll be ready!
Well, Everything is good here! I hope everyone has had a good week at home! Love ya!

Berenice, Zane and Stephanie

Hola!

This week was great! We had 3 baptisms yesterday! Berenice, Zane, and Stephanie. Berenice is in her late 30's and Zane and Stephanie are her children. It was a great baptismal service, but I don't have any pictures because they showed up really late, and we had to kind of rush the service a little bit. It was really great, and I'm glad to have been a part in teaching them the Gospel. They will be great members. Berenice's husband Rodrigo will probably be getting baptized in the next month or 2, but we're also really excited for him!
Also, this week I went on an intercambio with the zone leaders down to San Juan, (my greenie area), and it was sweet! I got to see lots of people I haven't seen in a while. Including Vicente because He's been going to a YSA ward now. But we ran into him in the street and he came with us to a couple lessons, and it was great because he's been having a hard time as a recent convert, but having him there to bare his testimony was really strong, and It strengthened my testimony a lot.
This transfer has gone by sooo fast. We're starting week four of the transfer and I feel like I just barely got here. My companions are great and we're really starting to get along great and teach with a lot of Harmony which is kind of hard to do sometimes in Trios.
I'm so grateful for this opportunity to serve the Lord with 100% effort. I'm finally beginning to realize how rare this is, and how much we need to take advantage of it. My desires have changed so much on my mission, I've discovered that the thing I want more then anything is to be with the people I love forever in the Celestial Kingdom. And that desire has motivated me to talk to everyone, to bare testimony to everyone, to serve the people in my district and the people in my area, because I've learned to love them all. I hope everyone has a great week this week! Love you all!
