Marco!!

Wow, this week was full of miracles! And its was fun too! This week, Elder Wilkerson went with Elder Ortiz in Dana Point because Elder Ortiz's companion left before the transfer got over.. Just some weird travel plans or something! So Elder Wilkerson is there, still as my zone leader companion, but no longer as my companion. So now I have Elder Halling in San Juan with me, and he is the district leader of the San Juan district. But in 3 weeks, Elder Ortiz leaves, and Elder Wilkerson is coming back with us, and we're going to cover the whole ward, which is like half the mission, because we're running out of Spanish missionaries, and there are no signs of getting any greenies (new missionaries) any time soon! So, that's crazy, but The Lord has a plan, and we're all excited to see what he has in store for us!

Yesterday was awesome! Marco got baptized! I forgot my camera at home, so I'll have to send you some pictures next week! But its was an awesome service! I had the opportunity to baptized him and it was great! Some of his family came from out of town, and His non-member mom came, and she loved it. And Something that's really, really cool about Marco is that he read the entire Book of Mormon before he got baptized!! Haha At the beginning of August, I challenged him to a reading contest, and we wanted to see who would finish the Book of Mormon first! And he destroyed me! He finished on Saturday night!! It was awesome! That just goes to show you how dedicated this kid is! His older Brothers are Kevin and Jaime, the Boys that got baptized in January, and they are just awesome! They are probably the biggest miracle that I've seen during my mission. They are just a great family!
Well, I don't have much more to say then that! All is well! The church is true! I'm super excited to hear General Conference on Saturday and Sunday! Not kidding, its probably the most excited I've been for anything in my life. Hahah its gonna be great! Love you all! Hope you have a good week!

Keep going, Keep trying, Keep giving!!

Hola!

Man, this week was intense. And it was super cool! First things first! Happy Birthday Grandma Frei! Hope it was a good one! Also, Congratulations Aubrey! I can't believe you got married! I''m super happy for you guys! Bien Hecho! :)

We had a mission leadership council that I got to go to and Elder Cardon of the First Quorum of the Seventy came, and we just talked for like 4 hours with him. It was awesome! He just taught us from the scriptures and taught us how to lead by the spirit and it was awesome. That was on Wednesday! On Thursday, I hit one year in the mission field. That was really weird. It kind of freaked me out to be honest, So, I set some new goals of things that I want to get done before I go home next year! I don't feel like I have much time left at all! Anyways, on Friday we had our Zone Conference with Elder Cardon! And Elder Cardon's training was great! But I really liked President Orgill's training! It was on Diligence, Patience, and Obedience! Those are 3 topics I love! He talked about Moroni 9:6, which I really liked! And he told several stories from his life about how he's learned to acquire those attributes, And he shared a quote by President Boyd K. Packer, and I loved it, So I'm gonna share it with you guys! It says,"That which God will never take by force - He will accept freely given. And He will then return to you freedom that you can hardly dream of - The freedom to feel and to know, the freedom to do, and the freedom to be at least a thousandfold more than we offer Him. Strangely enough the key to freedom is obedience." I love that quote! I've learned it better in the Mission Field then I could have ever learned it anywhere else! I also really like the quote by Joseph Smith that says," When the Lord Commands, do it". Just remembering where the commandments come from testify of the importance of keeping them and expressing our love for the Savior. It was a great conference. On Saturday, I got to go on an Exchange with the AP's, and instead of going with Elder Corcus, My trainer, I got sent to Irvine for a day with his companion, Elder Cedano. He's awesome! It was my first time ever trying out English work! And it was SUPER different! I'm so used to talking to people rather easily, and just trying to get them to understand that you should only pray to Heavenly Father and no one else.   But English work takes on a whole other level of crazy. No one even cares! No one believes in anything anymore! It caught me way off guard. We did end up finding a cool guy named Adam who is from Southern China, and we sent the Chinese speaking Elders over to teach him. But, all in all, I was glad to return to my little Mexico. :) Spanish work is great!
Also! Marco is getting baptized this Sunday!! Its going to be an awesome service! And his Mom is going to come and take a Church tour with us! We're hoping that she will understand the importance of eternal families, and we'll be able to set a baptismal date with her!
Love you all! Hope you have a great week!

Con mucho amor!

Miracles Pending

  Hola!!

Well, this week was great! And by great I mean that it was spent contacting, knocking doors, preaching repentance, and much more! Those are the things I love the most about missionary work! Haha Its the best!
To get into a little more detail, This Saturday, we didn't have any meetings, we didn't have to prepare any trainings, or take care of any drama. So we got to spend like 4 or 5 hours just tracting, and contacting. It was so much fun!! We did it from 12 to 5, and it was a blast. We ended up teaching 3 new people and finding a lot of potential investigators! I really feel that when you are committed to The Lord like that, He is just waiting to "open the windows of heaven". We haven't seen any direct miracles from that work yet, but I know its coming! My companions and I have set a goal for 3 baptisms this month, and I know we can accomplish it! We are putting in the work, and it feels great! Doing missionary work is so much fun. Especially in Spanish work!
We have Marco's baptism set for the 27th, and we had a baptismal date set with a man named Alfonso, but he has been really hard to get a hold of and we think he has been dodging us.. but asi es la vida! We'll just keep inviting! So, that set us a little bit behind on what our goal was.. but then we got a call from a man named Jorge. His name was in our phone, and we have no idea how it got there. He told us that someone contacted him 4 months ago, and he is ready to be baptized. He has been attending church with his ex-wife in Arcadia, but he lives in San Juan, and he wants to get baptized and start being a Mormon! Haha so, we told him that we'd meet with him, but he cant until this next week, so we're waiting to see how that goes! Awesome stuff though.
  Missionary work is the best!!!

Love you all, and I hope you all have a great week!
