See you in October!!

Hola!


 Well, I guess I should explain the title of this email. I extended my mission! Surprise!!!! My new release date is October 17th! I was praying and fasting to know what I needed to do, and I got a very distinct impression that Heavenly Father needs me here for just a little bit longer! So, I talked with President Orgill, and he can only grant me a 30 day extension. I thought it'd be around September 30th or so, but I guess its 30 days from my start date, which is September 17 and not 30 days from my would be release date! I'm happy with the extension though and I've been feeling very peaceful about it, which I'm taking as a confirmation that I did what I was supposed to do!
    Also, this week, We went out tracting, which normally occupies most of our proselyting time now seeing that we don't have many investigators. But this time, we took out a Priest from our ward just to switch things up a bit. I went with Elder Cedeño and Elder Ashton went with the Priest named Chris. Elder Cedeño and I were in a really good mood and had a lot of success handing out Books of Mormon, which is harder in English work then it is in Spanish work, but we didn't have any lessons or return appointments.. which is also harder in English work. While we were doing that, Elder Ashton and Chris were having some success! They were able to teach a lady from Pakistan! They placed a Book of Mormon and we have a return appointment! So I hope we get back in and have an opportunity to teach her again.

Merry Christmas!!

Hola! Aloha! Yokwe! and Hello!


  Another great week in So cal! It was great to talk to all of you on Christmas! You all looked great! Not a lot of exciting things happened this week. We're still on the hunt for some new investigators. And I've been studying a lot about faith, specifically Faith to Find. Just trying to apply my faith and confidence that Heavenly Father is preparing people and that He is guiding and leading us to them. Of course, it was kind of hard to find people during Christmas.. and when we did, they were in such a hurry that they didn't have time for us. It reminded me of a quote from Elder Neil A. Maxwell. He said, "Each of us is an inn keeper who decides if there is room for Jesus." For a while, it made me kind of upset that they weren't even giving us a chance to help them. So, I decided to have more faith. My studies have been fully focused on faith. I love it. And I feel like its been helping me a lot. One thing its helped me realize is that The gospel is just as true for those who reject it, as it is for those who accept it. Everyone needs this message. And its such a blessing to have the Lord trust me enough to let me teach others about it. I guess, in short, I've just been very grateful lately for the call to be a missionary. Its the best calling in the church. I hope you all had a great Christmas! Love you!

New Calling

Hello! 

Wow! This week was crazy! I was transferred to Northwood ward in Irvine. I was also called to be an Assistant to the President with Elder Ashton who also was just called as an assistant.  He has been out as long as me and is from Houston Texas.  Since we both are new, Elder Cedeno (who goes home in three weeks), who was the Assistant with Elder Corcus (went home last week) has extended so that he can train Elder Ashton and I to be AP's. He goes home on January 15th, so we don't have very long to be trained.  We're a little freaked out to say the least  but its been a good growing experience so far. We've had to really buckle down and do lots of planning so that we can have time to proselyte and also time to get everything done that we need to do in the office. 

I really like Elder Ashton though! He's a great guy and he knows how to work hard.  I really like the ward too! I don't get to work with the Marshallese group anymore. :( But thats alright, the ward is really strong, and it will be interesting having lots of support with missionary work and stuff. We normally didn't have that to much in the Spanish wards I've served in. 

Also, Elder Corcus went home to Bolivia! It was hard to say goodbye.  He was a big influence on me and helped me a lot on my mission. I was really privileged to have him as a trainer. 

We dont really have any investigators or people that we've been teaching, so we've been doing a lot of tracting in our spare time. I think it's fun! But here in Irvine, people arent very open, so we get some grumpy people some time. I like it though! Hahah What a good opportunity to be Christlike! :) We havent found anyone yet, but Elder Cedeno has a goal to baptize someone before he goes home! We have 3 weeks!!! So we gotta find someone this week! I believe we will.
